I wake up early and quietly watch a few cartoons while Smash & Dragon sleep on. A breakfast of chocolate covered expresso beans and Sunny D gets the old brain to working. At 11 I have to choose between the Wolf SIG and a fursuit SIG - I head to the fursuit lounge. After an interesting discussion of building fursuits for hire - and construction techniques - it's off to the dealer's room, the only time I saw it while not in costume.

I follow Big Bad Wolf into the presentation run-through and make myself useful as a water boy, snapping a picture of the unofficial CF9 Bunyip. The stage isn't ready for practice, and as the time draws near everyfurry is moved into the back hallway. I meet & help Stanley D. Lion while the presentation order is straightened out. Some higher-up in the hotel staff appears and complains that we're blocking an access/fire hallway, and to make a longer story short, the fursuit prep area gets moved to the Pearl Possum. Robert King & I wind up acting as impromptu traffic control, getting fursuits to the stage in small groups (as we can't overload the access hallway). |
(gryn) I'm also still making sure fursuiters have water, and keep track of various furs' stuff while the fursuiters go to the pool for pictures. This runs over into the Paw Fasting Celebration; hopefully we didn't distract from the ceremony.
Here are the pictures I took in the staging area and the back hallway; I thought I had gotten everyone but didn't. I know I missed Minnie Mouse and Twinkle Foozle, and I may have missed others as well (sorry).

Thanks to Con staff for keeping the pitchers full, and supplying gatorade and straws. And a big thanks to Onci and Frang for managing the presentation and keeping it going smoothly. I was taking photos as each fursuit came back to the Pearl Possum. Check out Onci's & Frang's site for full information on the presentation.

A quick trip to Arby's with Lance and Brokken for dinner. Brokken and I get into our 'zoots and go to the AHWW get-together (again) - but it's already moved elsewhere by the time we got to the Pearl possum. It's close to time for the Fur Dance, so we migrate back to the room to meet up with some of the other fursuiters.

It takes a while to get Lance into Mufasa -- well into the first half of the furdance -- so everybody except Brokken, Hunter and I takes off for the Furdance. We kill time in the hallway outside Lance's room while he gets ready. Finally he's ready for me to drop the servo pack in and we all head off to the poolside dance.
Big thanks go to Cataroo and Topfox for hosting the poolside Fur Dance. Both Silvermane and Mufasa had happy paws, and really enjoyed it! Many fursuits (57 by Topfox's count) came out to play, as did many human types. I snapped some pictures from our balcony when Mufasa took a break, about 10:30pm. Note: the quality of the next three pictures is poor.
The music ended around 10:30pm, and the hotel staff helpfully turned off the power to the pool area about 11:00pm, when the pool closed. After many of the human Fur Dance attendees went to the Cabaret FurLeDance, the power came back on and several furs settled into the hot tub.
Silvermane retired to the fursuit lounge and swapped stories for a while - and fell asleep in one of the pool chairs. I retired to the room before the Cabaret let out.
